Hello again to all our members from what is the last
e-zine of summer. |
| |
Despite what others might say, our true national sport is talking about the weather. Hopefully, it will become an Olympic event in the not too distant future and we’ll win a hatful of medals. |
| |
This summer, the weather talk has been more pronounced than ever. Was it the wettest on record? Will we ever get to Brittas Bay this year? When is Evelyn Cusack going to give us some good news? |
| |
But as you know by now, we don’t do doom and gloom here at Fishers. The fact of the matter is that we have one of the best and most temperate climates in the world, with few of the excesses of heat or cold that blight other countries |
| |
It really is a matter of perspective. While we all might dream of blue skies in summer, the superstars of Real Madrid who came to Carton House for their pre-season training, including the famous Ronaldo, pronounced the weather to be ideal for training. |
| |
And would we really like to have weather like Greece, where temperatures of up to 47 degrees have caused fires which are threatening the whole of Athens as I write? |
| |
So no more talk of bad weather, please, instead, let’s dress for whatever we’re doing. And for this, you’ll find the perfect answer to the Irish climate at Fishers whatever your chosen pursuit be it cocktail parties or country walks. So, always look on the bright side of life and come on down for a fresh look this season. |

The height of fashion at Fishers |

Our new season stock is arriving daily and will be officially unveiled during the month of September at our ever-popular Fishers Fashion Shows, which run each Thursday on 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th - commencing at 11.00am. You will come won’t you. |
| It’s a great opportunity for you to check out our new Autumn range, so we hope to see you and please feel free to bring along a friend – they’ll be made very welcome. And please make sure you turn up as early as possible, as seating is limited. |
| As mentioned previously, the first of our Shows will be filmed by TV3’s popular Xpose programme, so you might just catch a glimpse of yourself on TV! |
| The fashion theme doesn't end in September, as we’re also running a series of Fashion Lunches each Thursday in October – you’ll hear more about these in our next issue. |

We know eggsactly where our food comes from |

The Buttery Café at Fishers continues to wow visitors with mouthwatering, wholesome and freshly prepared food. And one of the secrets of its success is the use of locally sourced ingredients – we’re not in favour of air miles when it comes to food. |

Aimee and Claire, are of course both locals, so it comes as no surprise that they’re in favour of supporting local suppliers. |

Most of the eggs used, for example, are supplied by Catriona Douglas of North Wicklow Eggs, located less that a mile from The Buttery. Catriona is passionate about her free-range hens and likes to boast that she can almost tell you which of her birds produced each individual egg. And that’s no yolk! |
